Nuva ring????

So I went to the doctor today and she convinced me to try the nuva ring. She said to stop taking my normal pill tonight and on Mother’s Day to put in my first ring. I’m super skeptical about it bc I haven’t heard many good reviews on it. And I understand what to do but how tf does it work. It’s a plastic ring with hormones in it? How do they get released? Idk what to do bc I’m so torn. It sounds super cool and convenient but then again I’m so comfortable with the pill idk what to do plz help😫
