After months and months of growing you inside my belly, you decided at 40+3 you would make your debut to the world. Born at 3:54am, on the 5th of May 2019. Weighing 7lb 12oz of pure perfection. I had a very fast and traumatic birth, but you were worth all of it.

Around 9pm on the 4th of May I started getting regular intense contractions, I rang up labour and delivery, which they then told me to wait it out until they were coming every 3 minutes and within 45 minutes they were coming thick and fast, every 2 minutes or less. I rang them up again at 22:15 and they didn’t ring me back until 22:45, was told to head straight in and got there at 23:30. I was already 4cm, in active labour. Me and my partner were ready to meet our little boy. Not even 20 minutes later I felt like I needed to push, the midwife said it’s probably my waters, examined me and I was already at 10cm, waters already broken! It was time to push. I was pushing from 12pm like a trooper but because I dilated so quickly and my contractions were coming every 15-30 seconds, baby was in an awkward position so wasn’t moving down my birth canal. They cut me, used the suction cup..that failed. They then got another doctor in, used the forceps, first attempt failed and was told if I didn’t get him out with this last push I would need a c-section. I pushed so hard I felt myself tear, but he was out, he was fine, he was perfect. He’s got a little bruise on his head from the suction cup, but he is such a happy, healthy baby!

I had to be put to sleep to be stitched up so I lost out on the chance to breastfeed, but my partner got to bond with him and feed him for the two hours that I was asleep for. Here’s a couple pictures of my little love Ruben and my partner asleep😂
