Do you ask before spending your spouses money?

If you have a shared account? What about if you don’t? Just wondering how everyone else does it

I don’t have to ask my husband for money even though he is the main provider of our family of five. It’s OUR money regardless of who makes it. We share all accounts and credit cards. I take care of all the finances. Yes, we discuss big purchases... but asking your husband for money? That’s sounds so controlling and absurd to me.

I never understood why people say her/his money.. in a relationship to me it is ONE..when u devide what else is devided.. i just dont get it...

if it’s over $100 that’s not groceries or needed for the dog or baby yes.

If I use his account it's only because my money is tied up for a few days.  It is always back in plus some after.

No. Its our money. We alwahs discuss big purchases but we dont ask esch other permission before we buy things. Everything we have is ours.

We live together and have a joint account, so we usually discuss it if it's over $50. We didnt specifically agree on a certain number but it's just common courtesy between us to mention it beforehand without having to discuss whether or not we're "allowed" to

We have shared accounts. If it is not groceries then no matter the cost there is a text message. If over $75 the other person needs to be in agreement before the purchase
