Melanoma or a bruise?

DISCLAIMERS:

1. I have a doctors appointment scheduled already. It’s just not until the 22nd and this is on my mind.

2. Don’t get on my for my ugly grown out polish lol. It was a crap job pedicure to begin with, I don’t have any nail polish remover in my house (just moved), and I have 2 kids under 2 so I keep forgetting to buy some on the rare occasions I get out of the house.

I noticed this spot on my toe nail back in March and it has steadily grown out. I googled “dark spot on toe nail” on google and everything comes up MELANOMA. I only just recently got surgery to remove thyroid cancer, so the thought of ANOTHER cancer is freaking me out.

I read that melanoma doesn’t grow out, it just creates a streak vs a bruise would be a splotch that would grow out. But that doesn’t look like a bruise to me... looks like a mole under the nail. I’m also not a mole-y person.

Thoughts? Anyone with experience with melanoma want to provide insight as to how that experience was for you?
