So to make a long story short, last year i lost all my friends to a stupid fight. They continued being friends, and i was kicked out of the group because of something stupid i said (i was upset because they bailed on my birthday dinner)

So in December we started talking again- and it’s still very touchy with what i can say and can’t say so they’re not mad at me.

Anyway, one of those friends (let’s call her Em)

Won’t let her family know that shes friends with me again. She’s 18, and her parents have a tracking device in her car and control everything in her life.

Every time we would hang out she would have to switch cars, say she’s somewhere she’s not, have to delete our texts, have to act like I’m a fugitive and make sure no one sees her out with me, turn off her snap location, etc.

She also makes no effort to hang out with me.

So my friend Jay told me that i have to basically accept this and get over it.

The other two friends in the group chat, Giana and Mike stood up for me and said that it’s stupid- but won’t get in the middle.

I just think it’s pointless to try to be friends with someone who can’t even decide who her friends are without their parents being the judge, jury, and executioner. I think it’s pointless to be anxious and scared every time i hang out with her. I don’t see why i should have to put up with it, or why i should feel ashamed of myself because her family doesn’t like me...

Am i wrong for feeling like this?
