So here's a wild birth story for you guys! Might be a bit long but I'm sure some ladies have had the same experience. Went in for a regular weekly checkup on 05/07/19 at 37w5d. My blood pressure was extremely high and they found protein in my urine. So off to L&D they sent me. There goes my planned grocery shopping. 😂

Got into my room at L&D. Blood was drawn and more urine was taken. Protein level in my urine was at a 1.5 which is super high so they said I was gonna be induced. It was crazy knowing at that point I wouldn't be leaving the hospital without a baby.

My cervix was only about 60% effaced so they gave me the pill to help soften. They waited four hours and checked and made very little progress. At that point, my BP was still very high so they started me on magnesium sulfate to reduce my risk of seizures. Let me tell you, it's a hell of a drug. Could barely keep my eyes open!

They watched me and decided I was stable enough at 3 am (15 hours after arriving) to start Pitocin. I was only dialated 2 and 80% effaced. It was a very slow drip so contractions didn't start until several hours later and I was in agony. My BP started to spike again because of the pain so I chose the epidural. Once I got that, my BP crashed and I honestly felt like I was dying. 😥

They got me stable and restarted the Pitocin. Baby boy's heart rate decided to spike a bit and I was only dialated to a 3 and his head wasn't engaged yet. The doctor said he wasn't sure if baby would make it through the labor process so emergency C-section we went. At 3:24 pm, my beautiful Nolan was born at 37w6d, weighing 8lb 1oz, 20 1/2 long. I was on cloud nine, watching them clean him off while they stitched me. I just couldn't take my eyes off him. 😍

Recovery was rough. Because of my BP they sent me to Recovery for an hour or so to be monitored. Because of the magnesium, I was a groggy, drugged up mess until about 8:30 that night. The pain is crazy. But he's worth it.

We're both doing well and even though everything was "unplanned", I wouldn't change it for the world. 😍😘
