Power pump?

Im a FTM and my LO is 12 days old. My milk supply is starting to go down & I'm trying to get it back up. I see so many people saying power pump? Can someone explain how to power pump?

It's best to do both sides at the same time otherwise you'll be wasting a letdown. Pump 20 minutes, rest 10 minutes, pump 10 minutes, rest 10 minutes, pump 10 more minutes. And then apply some lanolin or nipple balm bc it's going to hurt the first couple times!

It takes me a while to empty, so I pump first for about half an hour, take a 10 minute break, pump for ten minutes, and repeat the 10 minute cycle two more times. I do it after I put LO to bed so it is 'me' time to watch TV. I also started unhooking my hoses from my connectors during the 10 minute breaks and doing things like washing dishes and getting my things packed for work the next day.

When I power pump, I pump on for 10 mins then rest for 10 mins for the duration of an hour. I would eat lots and often and drink tons and tons of water and Gatorade. I would pump every 2-3 hours until empty including through the night. Hands free bras increased my output too since I could massage all the ducts while I pumped.

Everyone has their own little system. You'll find one that works best for you.

For my power pumps, I initially pump until I'm completely empty (15-25 min) then take a 10 minute break and then pump for 10-15 more minutes, take another 10 break and end with another 10-15 minute pump. I never pump more than 1 hour (cause that's no fun). But I never waste a letdown either. I keep my breaks flexible because if I haven't had a letdown in awhile, I'll pump while I wait for another letdown and then break.

This was the best thing to increase my supply. I actually had to stop doing them these last few days because it was increasing too much and I couldn't get the plugged ducts under control. I might add it back in soon once that's taken care of.
