Wine and Pregnancy: I’ve heard SEVERAL women say they drank a small glass of red wine when they were pregnant. I’m 12 weeks right now and craving it pretty bad but I’m still anxious about the idea. Has anyone done this?! Or have information about it?!

It’s only 9 months, why risk it?

My cousin had an occasional small glass of wine during her pregnancy.  Her baby seemed fine at first.  By 3, he was diagnosed with speech delay.  By 4, adhd.  At 5, learning delayed and a new doctor figured out he is actually on the FAS spectrum.  He is going to struggle for the rest of his life with things because she had a few small glasses of wine.  The doctors have no idea why women who have one drink have an FAS baby while others can drink their entire pregnancy without an issue.  It’s absolutely not worth it IMO.

It’s totally your choice and based on your doctor’s recommendation. But what I ask myself is if there was a complication in pregnancy (no matter how unrelated to a glass of wine) would I still blame myself or that one glass.  I know myself and that I would since I still blame drinking before I knew on my miscarriage.

Not worth the risk. You're gonna have to give up alot more in the next 18 years, so if you're not okay with giving up alcohol for just 9 months and youd rather deal with the risk then youre probably not ready 😬

There is not enough research on it to prove a small glass occasionally is good or bad. Personally, I think it’s a stupid risk. No amount of alcohol is proved to be safe so I wouldn’t drink at all.

A couple of my friends had a few glasses of wine during the third trimester, but definitely not the first or second. In my opinion it’s not worth it at any point in pregnancy. I have a sister who is special needs (not from FAS - she didn’t get enough oxygen to her brain while being born and so part of her brain basically died) and although I love her to death, I wouldn’t want my baby to end up like her, especially if I could 100% prevent it. Also, I would need a whole bottle of wine at this point, not just a measly glass, so why bother?! 🤣🤣🤣
