How do you handle tantrums?

My son is 15 months and starting to have little tantrums now when I won’t let him have something he wants or won’t let him walk where he wants (he just started walking). He’ll cry, scream, and every once and a while hit. As of right now I’m just ignoring it and going on as if it isn’t happening but am wondering what other parents do and what works for you. Thank you ☺️

Yeah redirect/distract as much as possible. I also try to validate their feelings “I understand you wanted to climb on that table and I’m sorry it makes you upset. You could get hurt so I can’t let you do that, let’s go do this instead”. He might not understand you much yet but if you get in the habit of it now it will be very beneficial as he gets Older!
