Leggings in the work place

We have to wear dress clothes to work each day. One of our dress code rules is no leggings, or boots. Heels, dress pants, dresses, tights, etc are all acceptable.

Now, I love black leggings, but understand they may not be appropriate in the workplace if worn with a basic t-shirt or something that doesn’t cover your butt due to the tight nature of them. However, my personal opinion is that they’re fine with dresses...I don’t see much difference between leggings and tights as long as they’re black leggings and not funky colored ones. And again, as long as your butt is covered by something other than just leggings.

Do you feel leggings are inappropriate in a work setting or unprofessional? Why or why not?
