Strep throat remedies?

so i’ve had strep throat for about 3 days now and when i told my mom she said that when she had it, the doctor told her to gargle salt water. i did that and but its not really helping. My tonsils are huge and idk what to do.  it hurts to swallow and it hurts to talk. i cant take myself to the hospital or doctor because im 17 without a car. im soo upset i want to cry.

Um you need antibiotics to get rid of strep. Penicillin if you can take it.

Are you able to ask anyone other than your mother for a ride to your closet urgent care? You are in need of antibiotics, not home remedies. Home remedies are great for colds but nothing that needs antibiotics such as this. What about calling an Uber or Lyft? 
If anything, call your local hospital and ask for a medical opinion and have your mother listen. Maybe that could help sway her decision.

Your tonsils look really swollen. I’d really recommend you to find a way visiting the doctors so they could prescribe you antibiotics. If you can’t swallow than that should be treated. Home remedies are good when you’re having a cold or some viral infection but this should be treated with antibiotics.
