Subutex/soboxon during pregnancy
I had debated about posting anything but the further along I get in my pregnancy the more I am worrying.
I am 28 weeks pregnant, and am on subutex (they just switched me a week ago from suboxone). I have been in treatment for 2 years. Before I got pregnant I was on a lower dose, but since then they have raised my dose.
My question is, what should I expect when i have the baby and with the withdrawal. I know there will be withdrawal symptoms, and all but my doctor has told me that most of the babies only stay for 5 days (which they have to be monitored for 5 days) and that me breastfeeding would help and that he shouldn’t have to stay for weeks, and should get to come home with me after those 5 days.
Since then, there was another girl at the clinic saying her baby has been in the hospital for a month due to the withdrawal (I obviously don’t know all the details & my doctor told me there were other issues with the baby, but couldn’t say what). Now I’m really starting to worry that he will have to be hospitalized longer and suffer more. My doctor had repeatedly told me, only a few babies stay longer then the 5 days and the withdrawal shouldn’t be bad to where he will have to stay since it’s a monitored treatment blah blah.
I know, I did this. And, I should be worried, it’s my fault my baby is in this situation. I have been clean for almost 3 years and in that time have started school, bought my first home, have a beautiful 2 year old and so much more. I have come a very long way and I’m ashamed to even be in this situation, let alone putting my sweet baby through this. Please no mean or rude comments.
