Bumbo seat! Big yes or big no?

Question

Hey everyone my son will be 3 months this weekend and is wanting to totally sit up ALL the time. He doesn't like laying down anymore only if it's time for nap and he tired and to be changed other then that he wants to sit up.  Although we prop him up with pillows and such I'm interested in getting a bumbo. My nephew had one when he 2as a baby 11+ years ago but he loved it. I'm ready things now talking about how they are good for babies and also how they are absolutely terrible. Any thoughts? I would love for him to have one since. I have seen first had that my nephew loved it

I don’t like those seats. The sit me up is better. I think it’s safer.

A Bumbo will not teach your baby how to sit. For development, he needs free play on the floor. That said, they can still have their place. I kept mine in the bathroom to give my son a safe place to be while I brushed my teeth or whatever. Same can be done in the kitchen. Just don’t leave him in it for more than 15 minutes at a time or keep him in containers (including the car seat) more than 2 hours a day. 
An alternative is the Fisher Price sit me up seat. It is better for hip positioning.

Big fat nope. They're horrible for baby's hips and they don't teach them how to sit up. Our daughter was sitting completely unassisted by 4 months and we never once bought any sort of seat for her.

My son never had one, didnt see the need for one. Our next one wont have one either. 
My son could actually sit very well from a young age and could sit unassisted before the 'predicted age' - if you do get one just dont leave your baby in there for long. It's not good for them.

I have the sit me up by fisher price and I loved it more than our bumbo. I am still using it and she is 7 months. We used the bumbo maybe 3 times lol. If your baby has a little extra chub like mine then there legs get stuck. I like that the fisher price has little toys in them and I feel more comfortable since they came out with how bad the bumbo is.

Agree with the sit me up. Safety aside, if you’ve got a chunky legged baby you’ll have have a hard time getting them to fit in the bumbo. Both our kids have loved the sit me up.

Every kid in our family has loved the Bumbo seat. As long as you don't leave the baby in there all day every day then it's fine.

I’d only use a bimbo for short periods of time until he can sit up on his own. Using it too much before he can sit up on his own can hinder his muscle and core development
