Late period or miscarriage?

So last August I got what I thought was my period. I wasn’t tracking so I have no idea if I was late or not. Anyway, the period was unlike any I’ve ever had. It started out with cramping for 2 days badly with no bleeding, and then bleeding started heavy. I was in SO Much pain and nothing was helping it. On top of that I was nauseous and fell asleep every day that week at noon and could barley function.

Is it possible that it was an early miscarriage? I went to the ER 5 days in and the PT test came back negative and he didn’t mention anything about a possible miscarriage but did book me in for an ultrasound that I never ended up going to.
