Anyone Else?

I’m curious if anyone else has had the same situation as my husband and I. My husband works days and I work overnights so we decided that we’re not going to get child care. Have any other couples done this and have been alright with it?

My husband worked afternoons and I work midnights. As long as you can find a way to get some sleep, then go for it.

It will be more cost efficient, but i only wonder when you’ll get to sleep, have any self care and together time?

I would plan on care as a back up. It’s an eye opening experience it to see how engrossing it is to be home with an infant. If it all works out ok just quit the babysitter!

My husband is a teacher so he works during the day time and 3 nights a week I leave for work when he gets home. I only work 3-4 hours an evening though so he gets the kids to bed and I just go to bed later than them when I get home. It’s really helped my husband bond with our kids though because I was the only one ever home to take care of our first. We’ve talked about me becoming a nurse in the future and working a few night shifts a week to keep the same schedule going. Hope it works out for you!

I worked overnights and we had to hire a babysitter to come for about 4-5 hours a day while I slept. I couldn’t stay up safely. I had no energy and it was very dangerous for me to drive anywhere. I felt like I was going to fall asleep at every stoplight.

My partner works nights midnight-8am and I work 9am-430pm. We will not be using childcare so dad will be with the baby from the time I leave at 8:30/8:40 til I get home around 4:45pm. I know he will be exhausted so he plans to rest when baby does, and then when I get home at 4:45 I will take over and he will go to sleep until 11:00pm. I’ll have baby overnight while he’s gone, obviously. So I’m sure i will be exhausted too, ha. Hoping to make it work for all of us, wish I could be the one home with the baby during the day but this is where we’re at with things 🤷🏻‍♀️ Goodluck!

I work random day shifts (the latest I stay at work is until 9 pm) and he works nights. He will not get enough sleep if you don’t have a babysitter so it doesn’t work for us. It would be different if I always got off work early tho.
