conflicted on keeping my pregnancy
if you and your partner had an unplanned pregnancy at a young age and were not prepared to care for a child, would you consider abortion or still consider it wrong?
I’m only 6 weeks pregnant. My partner and I are engaged, but not planning on getting married til next year. He’s about to start his career but will be in the training academy at a low rate of pay until after the due date, and I’m still in college part time and working full time to make ends meet.
On top of all this, I’m an amateur athlete in a combat sport on my way. I’ve stopped training since I found out but honestly the only thing I feel about this pregnancy is resentment. I don’t really even register it as a baby yet, but even still I don’t like babies. I didn’t want to have kids until we were more settled and my fiancé felt the same way. Now if I have a kid we both have to give up our entire lives as we know it.
My own family situation is rough right now. My fiancé never even had a good up bringing. The idea of us being parents right now honestly scares me. I come from a low income area and most the kids I grew up with had lousy families. When I have kids, I don’t want it to be like that. I want to be successful enough to have gotten us to a better town or at least a better part of town, with a better environment.
I’ve been struggling with the idea of getting an abortion. I was raised to believe it was wrong. But accidents happen, and honestly it’s just cells that will eventually turn into a baby. I’m still early enough where I can just take a pill to flush out the pregnancy tissues. But then I wonder if I shouldn’t be so selfish thinking about this. accidents happen and maybe I just need to own up and deal with the responsibility and hope our lives turn out okay and I can eventually get us and the kid out of here.
I’ve been sick like crazy the past two weeks and have honestly just been praying for a miscarriage and kind of feel awful about that. If I had the kid I would make sure they were loved and never knew they were an inconvenience and would provide for them the best I knew. But should I look out for myself and my fiancé now and take care of the issue, or just deal with the pregnancy and lose the life or at the very least take a huge setback in the life we’ve been working so hard to build for ourselves?
