Are you going to use pacifiers?

FTM... Not sure if I want to use it or not.

I'm not going to until a good breastfeeding routine has been established. In my breastfeeding class it said not to use any pacifiers until 4 weeks after birth.

I’m not because I’m breastfeeding and don’t want to cause nipple confusion. Also don’t want her dependent on it and have trouble taking it away when it’s time.

My daughter got a paci her first night and she nursed like a champ. Nipple confusion is not a thing - one of them gives the baby food and the other doesn’t. The sucking motion is calming for them (until the age of 3 or 4 actually) so just go for it. It will save you and the baby a lot of stress.

If he likes them I will let him! Some babies don’t care for them. If they help soothe him then I’m all for it. Plus it’s beneficial to preventing SIDS. My aunt didn’t give one to my cousin when she was a baby because she didn’t want her to become a thumbsucker but it backfired lol. She resorted to sucking on her hands/fingers/thumb to soothe.

Definitely using again, my son used one until he was 2 ,we didn’t mind it. Gave me peace of mind when he slept since they are known to prevent SIDS and his dentist actually debunked the myth that they cause dental problems. He has perfect teeth sooooo as long as baby girl coming likes one we will be using one ☺️

I have never used them before most of my kids were thumb suckers which is actually a much harder habit it break!

I breastfed and I used pacifiers from the start with my son two years ago. I was apprehensive at first because I was afraid of nipple confusion, but we never had an issue with it. He liked all the nipples! He stopped taking pacifiers however around 4 months because he preferred sucking his thumb. He’ll be two next month and the thumb is still his go to.

We didnt really use one with my son (hes 2 now) but we had them available. He just wasnt big on it. We limited it to when he was sleeping (can reduce SIDS) but it usually popped out pretty quick. As such...we still have pacifiers around...washed and ready to go.  Will probably take the same approach with this one.

I never used them with any of my boys. And I don’t plan on using it with my fourth baby. We never had any issues.

I’m on baby number 3. My first yes, he loved his pacifier. My second wanted nothing to do with them. We will see with my 3rd, if she wants them then sure. I see no harm in using pacifiers.
