My son is 4 months shy of 2.

Since he was 16 months old, I have forked out over $1500 on Paediatricians and a hearing test.

I’ve been on the waiting list to see a speech pathologist for almost 5 months (AND STILL WAITING!).

His left ear passed (eardrum is stiff), and his right was inconclusive, so I have to wait another 4 months (after waiting 3 already!) to be tested again.

Everyone I know, or have explained the situation to, has said, “he’ll talk when he does...” or, “my kid didn’t start talking until such an age...” But difference being, those kids mentioned have other ways of communicating (pointing, taking someone to something, etc.) my son...he points, but randomly, and he doesn’t pull me anywhere. He whinges until I figure out what he wants.

And the most frustrating thing of all is that I can repeat his name over and over, but he’s always in his own world. And he never seems to comprehend what I’m saying to him. He just stares at me blankly.

I can’t do this anymore. 😰

P.S. Paediatrician is almost certain he’s not autistic.
