What do I say? (Trigger Warning⚠️)

I’m 22, pregnant and have decided on abortion. My boss is very very strict and I’m trying to avoid having to answer why I’m going to be out of work for a day. My workplace is very very family oriented and I’m almost positive they might fire me if I told them what’s really going on (ok maybe not, but I’m terrified). Any suggestions of what I can/should tell my boss?

You do not have to give your boss a reason for your absence. Take a couple days off.

Thank you all for the suggestions. I morally ended up feeling guilty and just told my boss I had a medical emergency I needed to take care of in a timely manner. No questions were asked except if I could have the procedure done later in the day, but I told her I was actually getting it the day prior and was told I needed to rest for the next couple of days after. I don’t know if this is helpful for whomever was in the similar situation, but good luck ♥️thank you so much ladies!

I’m in a similar situation, but they’re not family oriented. Tbh they might fire me if they found out I’m pregnant, but very outspoken and would not agree with an abortion either. Also it’s just not their business. I’m planning on telling him I’ve been having some health complications and have to see a specialist on the day so they can determine how serious it is. If he pries I plan on just saying that it’s sensitive and I’m not comfortable saying anymore.

You could tell them you’re having a small medical procedure done, but that it’s a private matter and you’d appreciate their discretion. Legally, I don’t even think you need to tell them that much. You could just tell them you have a doctor’s appointment that day. But if you’re worried about office rumors, you could maybe tell them you have a ruptured ovarian cyst that your doctor wants to take a look at. That way if you’re in pain around your vagina, other employees won’t come to their own conclusions.
