They shouldn't go longer than 5 hours without formula/breastmilk??
One of my friends who has a 4 month old told me she learned from her lactation consultant (I think that's who it was) that babies shouldn't go longer than 5 hours without breastmilk or formula until they're a year old! Including at night! So she basically implied that they should not even be sleeping through the night. I've never heard that before in all my reading and talking to other parents. We followed Babywise, and in the very beginning, they shouldn't go longer than 4 hours, but my daughter will be a year old next week. You mean to tell me I should be waking her up to give her a bottle in the middle of the night? She's been getting 12 hours of sleep at night since she was 3 months old. And she gets enough formula and solid food during the day (my daughter's pediatrician even says so). I don't know why that would be necessary. She doesn't normally go more than 4.5 hours without food or a bottle during the day anyway, but I just found that idea absurd. Is it just me? I guess I got offended because I felt like she was implying I'm a horrible mom for letting my daughter sleep 12 hours at night and not feeding her every 5 hours.
