It depends on baby... I nurse on demand. Sometimes she wants to nurse every hour, sometimes she goes 4-5 hours. She averages about 10 minutes per boob, sometimes shorter sometimes longer.

I do both. I feed my daughter on demand and I pump 2 times a day. Usually after her first feed in the morning and around bedtime. If we give her a bottle during the day, I will pump them as well. She usually eats for 20-30 minutes when she breastfeeds and it ranges from every hour to a max of 5 hours, usually at night.

Exclusively pump. Every 2-3 hours for a minimum of 30 minutes. My son normally eats every 2.5 to 3 hours. I try to have a days worth of bottles in the fridge. Sometimes he’ll get fresh if I time my pump session a little bit before I think he’ll be hungry.

I did both:
Pump and bottle feed - I went against my family health nurses advise for my own sanity, she recommend pumping every 3-4hrs around the clock, this was too exhausting for me so I pumped 3 times a day and then fed Bub whenever he was hungry, some days this was hourly, other days it may stretch out to 3-5hrs.
Breastfeeding - everytime Bub wanted to, sometimes this meant we were on the couch for hours on end with him going side to side, other days he wouldn’t feed for 3-4 hours. 
This was the same baby and he slept through from 6 weeks old.

I've always nursed on demand, usually ever hour /1.5 hours during the day.
To begin with she'd drink for 30+ minutes now she's 7.5 months its only 5-8 mins
