So Strong ❤

Sam • 2 beautiful girls ❤

Thought I'd share my story so I know that I'm not alone, and others that may be in my situation won't feel alone either. I hope this helps someone, in some way.

At 35 weeks pregnant my water broke. I wasn't having contractions and I didn't realize my water broke until the next day. By the time I noticed, I had an infection and ran a high fever. I went to the hospital and the doctors had to induce me. I had to get steriod shots to mature her lungs. After 18 exhausting hours of laboring and only being dilated to 1cm, I got the epidural. 6 hours later I finally gave birth to my baby girl.

Luckily she was healthy. Born at 6lbs 4oz. The only problem was, she wouldn't eat which resulted in a 8 day stay in the NICU where she had to get a feeding tube.

Fast forward to November 9, 2018. At only 2 years and 8 months old. My daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. Which resulted in a 3 day hospital stay.

As much as that sucked. We got more educated and we got in a routine that helped us better manage it. She was happy and healthy, just like any other child her age.

5 months later, after going to a doctors appointment for a diabetes follow up, her endocrinologist wanted to run some routine blood work to make sure she didn't have celiac disease or hyperthyroid. (Both are common for people who have type 1 diabetes) The results came back and her numbers were running high for celiac disease. We had to do a scope to make sure she really had it. The results came back, and she does has celiac disease.

This girl has been through a lot (not as bad as some, I know) but she's a strong girl. And at barley 3 years old, she knows how to check her own blood sugar (I read the numbers of course) and she's learning that she can't eat gluten. It's been a wild ride, but I wouldn't trade this girl for anything else in the world.
