First trimester 12 or 14 weeks?

Am I crazy? I lived my whole life thinking your first trimester ended at 12 weeks but was just told it’s 14. 😅 Am I the only one? 😬

If you split 40 weeks into thirds that’s like 13 weeks 2 days, so I always just say 13 weeks is a trimester. I think some people get confused with dates when they say 4 weeks is a month (and 12 weeks is 3 months) bc really it’s a few days short.

At my last appt my dr said “next time I see you you will be in the second trimester” and in the moment I was like “yay!” Then I scheduled the appt and calculated it in the car and I’ll be 12 weeks and a few days 🤨 not sure if she just calculated wrong in her head or if she is considering 12 weeks the start of the 2nd trimester. I always thought it was 13 weeks

The beginning of your 13th week is the start of your second trimester from what I’ve always heard.

Some say it starts at 13 and some say 14. No idea lol I was actually planning on asking my dr on Friday about this.

I just asked this Dave question the other day lol someone posted a breakdown where the start of second was 14 weeks.  I went through my other pregnancies thinking after 12 i was in the second trimester turns out i was wrong lol
