Synthroid?

Question

So my doctor just called and my panel came back saying I have hypothyroidism. Which pissed me off a little since I went to a pcp a year ago to have it tested (I couldn't lose weight) and they told me it was fine.
Anyone taking it?
Did you lose any weight even though you're pregnant?

I’ve been on meds for hypothyroidism since July 2018. My levels were at 13. I didn’t lose weight bc I got pregnant 3 months later. I have gained very little during my pregnancy though. I bet your pregnancy made your thyroid go out of whack that’s pretty common

I've been on synthesis for 4 years and before I got on it I gained 60 pounds in 2 months and once I started it it never helped me lsoe any. You probably have it from your pregnancy as pregnancy can mess with your thyroid. My weight has stayed pretty steady since I've been on synthesis. My first pregnancy my does had to be adjusted 4 times and I gained 12 times and this pregnancy I'm also 32 weeks my dose has been adjusted once and I've gained 4 pounds

You can get pregnancy induced hypothyroidism. Happened to me with my first. We had just checked my levels at 5 weeks pregnant then by 28 weeks when I did my glucose test it popped up low. 
Just take the meds as directed. Usually it’s first morning on empty stomach at least 4 hrs prior to any iron or antacids. 
Your levels should be rechecked about a Month after starting your meds to make sure you don’t need an increase. And as your pregnancy continues it could need a prescription change.  
Most people respond better to the generic levothroxine and it’s cheaper too.

I had to take it to help with fertility (IVF/ICSI) as my levels were good but not “ideal”. I didn’t lose weight as I didn’t really need it, but my levels did become ideal in range during pregnancy so I was able to stop taking it.

I'm hyperthyroid and have been,continuing my medication. You may get some extra growth scans but not due to the medicine

They have different “acceptable” levels for pregnancy vs when you’re not pregnant.  So the exact same level could have been within range before and not now.  If your only symptom was the inability to lose weight, they wouldn’t treat that while your blood test was within normal range.
That being said, I’ve taken both armour thyroid and synthroid.  Meds alone didn’t cause me to lose weight, I still had to work twice as hard as the average person to lose weight.  I stopped eating wheat and that’s when things got easier and I felt better.  I lost 60 lbs and kept it off.  
Now that I’m pregnant, I am back on armour thyroid because my levels were slightly out of range for pregnancy.  I have lost weight but that’s because at 19+4 I’m still nauseated and vomiting many days.

I’ve been on it since before I got pregnant but I’ve only gained 11 pounds and I’m 32 weeks tomorrow! 
It will definitely help having your levels managed and it’s necessary for the baby

I have been dealing with infertility and my thyroid levels were a bit elevated (tsh).  My primary and obgyn told me this wasn’t the reason why I wasn’t getting pregnant.  Went to a fertility clinic she put me on synthroid and I got pregnant (unfortunately miscarried). It has not helped me loose weight, I’m not overweight tho.  I will say it’s helped my anxiety and my infertility.
Unfortunately it looks like primary and obgyn don’t see thyroid that a little elevated an issue.  I would suggest you seeing an specialist.

I take it too. I didn't lose weight like I was told I would but I also haven't been able to try very hard due to problems with my stomach muscles. Also I was told that pregnancy is what caused my hypothyroidism. After this baby since it's my last I'll be getting surgery for my stomach and working really hard to lose my weight.
