Hospital new healthy eating zone
So I work in a hospital and the past 2-3 years the cafeteria has worked really hard to completely redo everything and mainly offer healthy options. The expanded the salad bar, got ride of the pizza station, changed the menu, etc. You still can choose to get unhealthy food sometimes, like today they had grilled cheese and tomato soup as one menu option. But it’s mainly protein and veggies that are offered. Anyways, to keep up with trying to promote healthy eating, good hospital image, and healthy lifestyle in general, they are placing a new policy asking that any employee who is not eating something healthy go eat in an employee break room and not the cafeteria. (Some people bring their own food and still eat in the cafeteria.) some employees are annoyed because they have friends in other departments and they eat together in the cafeteria. Some are saying the breaks rooms are too small and other things like that. Basically they feel they should be allowed to eat whatever they want wherever they want on their break because it’s their break. Other employees are willing to participate. I personally don’t mind as I have to eat something light on my lunch or I get too tired. But for fun I thought I’d put it out there. Do you think the new policy is fair? Do you think it’s going to encourage visitors and patients to choose healthy food if they see employees eating healthy? Give me your thoughts!
