Sunscreen?? ☀️

So my son is 4 months and we are going to the lakes this weekend. It says 84 and partly cloudy. I'm gunna try to stay under shade but I'm sure he'll get some sun. Everything I'm reading says no sunscreen til 6 months because their skin is thin but in my mind, that should mean to protect it more? Lol I'm so confused

Not only should he be under shade, but sun will reflect off water & cause burning too, so be VERY careful. Long sleeves & pants (obviously lightweight), hat with flaps, face him away from the water, & limit your time outside with him.

Do not use sunscreen on a baby’s skin before at least 6 mo. Keep him in the shade!!! Sun burn is 100% preventable for babies.

Their skin is thin which means it soaks up the chemicals from the sunscreen even more than ours would. And babies systems aren’t meant to handle those kinds of chemicals. 
If/when you do use sunscreen: look for ones with zinc or titanium dioxide. Those are the “better” ones with less chemicals. Examples include: thinkbaby, blue lizard, and badger.

I have used sunscreen on my son he’s 5 months old. If it’s 90 degrees outside I can’t put a blanket on him and heat him further, I can try my best to shade him but if he got sun burned I’d feel bad and he’d be hurting. I have the babyganics brand, I don’t see anywhere on the container where it says an age restriction.

We took our daughter to the lake lots when she was that young. We live in south Texas where it’s very hot. We would mostly stay in the shade and had a hat on her. I do think I still used baby sunscreen on her little legs and arms though.

well its about 90-100 where im at this week and sunny and i still put sunscreen on my 3.5 mo olds arms and legs & my 3 & 4 year old

We use Blue Lizard and love it! Just be sure to stay under the shade a majority of the time and a floppy hat.
