HPV I was told it's common?

I was not not sexually active for 14 years. Recently had sex with a man Iv known for over a year. My pap came back positive for HPV. I'm waiting to find out what type I have. Or the strain rather. I don't have genital warts. But possibly the uterus cancer type. I'm so angry I could scream & cry. I also haven't told him yet.

It's very common. Try not to stress too much about it. I was told the same thing by my doctor and it went away after two years.

This is why boys also need to be vaccinated against HPV. It's virtually impossible for them to be aware they have a strain unless it's one that manifests as warts. It is not part of routine STD testing for men, and unfortunately it only shows up on PAP smears after it's produced abnormal cell changes on the cervix. Until vaccination reaches herd status, you really must assume every sexually active man carries HPV.

Had it when I re-became active, they did a biopsy of the cells and I had regular appointments. When all my test results came back, I started cleaning down there with tea tree oil (bit of a hippie). Within a year I cleared up, but had to me monitored for another year to make sure. Nothing since then.

Also, you could of had it before you slept with this partner and it might have been dormant. HPV rarely has physical signs unless it is the genital warts strain.

Doctors don't usually test for HPV specifically. Did you have an abnormal pap? It could've been from a previous relationship or from the one now. It's not something that he could've prevented unless you used condoms anyway.

I had the same thing, I kept up with the doctor, went regularly, followed all my appointments, I had to get a ton of biopsies and a freezing done. They scraped all the bad cells out. It was relatively easy considering I had precancer. I still continue to have routine visits, but it's been YEARS..  Everything has been fine since. Try not to panic.

I had it as a teenager and had the LEEP procedure done to take the precancerous cells out. Had reg checkups and no abnormal ones since that one. It sounds scary, but it doesn't always have a bad ending. The shot they came out yo prevent some strains seems to have ppl freaked out due to commercial purposes. It's still a little upsetting to hear "cancer" in any way, but that strain is pretty common.

I had a a pap seven years ago pregnant with my first i was told i had hpv. I had abnormal precancerous cells. I had a cololopscopy and a freeze treatment. Had my daughter 3 years ago same issues we let it ride out. Fast forward to aug this year (6 yrs from my sins birth) my pap was finally normal no hpv!

Ive read that its so common and so easily tansmitted. It can even be transmitted Orally.

That's messed up but i caught that once in my life! Not fun! But its not as serious as u think it is its definitely not like herpes where u have to constantly take pills it can go away , but while u have it its very contagious I had it a few years ago and ordered some wart removal online called terrasil wart removal and used it for 6 weeks and ever since then I've been clear of it herpes on the other hand u can't get rid of but this virus can lay dormant as long as ur immune system is kept up
