Low Supply?

Question

I’ve been seeing a few people say “supplementing is why your supply is low” but if my baby is hungry and I have no milk, what do I do? Not trying to be rude but if they are obviously still hungry and crying after each breastfeeding session then are they saying to just let them stay hungry? I am really struggling with low supply, would LOVE to exclusively breastfeed but also cannot watch my baby be hungry.

This is how you know you don’t have supply issues. Most women who supplement don’t actually need to and create supply issues by doing that.

Way too many mistake things like clusterfeeding, fussiness, baby wanting to feed often, little/no response to a pump etc with them having low supply. And therefore they start to supplement, when it's really no need (top of trap) or they could just offered the boob once more. I don't think anyone is suggesting you starve your baby, but try to get the point of the top of trap. 
Yes, there are them that really have supply issues, but way too many misdiagnose themselves of have a formula & happy pediatrician.

My baby was EBF until 4mo. Between is 3 and 4mo, he was really fussy, he scream like crazy to sleep, was always on the boob but pulling away, etc. My mother said he was hungry, but I insisted on EBF. I got completely exhausted. At his 4mo check up, we found out he hadn't gain any weight that month. We did some tests, everything was fine with him. Doctor weight before and after nursing, he wasn't taking enough from the boob. We started supplementing with formula. Bang.... Different baby, no more screaming to sleep and all that. My son was going HUNGRY because I insisted on EBF. You do what you think is right, go get your baby weighted. If he is gaining well then he is good. Honestly, I wish I had supplemented early, even if just here and there to let other people take care of him, without all the pumping and stuff. I think that's what reduce my supply, exhaustion. Which lead to a fussy baby and more exhaustion. I got all obsessed with the exclusive part of breastfing, like formula was poison.

I would talk to a local lactation consultant. It all depends on how old your baby is. They will start to cluster feed before growth spurts, and feeding more often will help bump your supply. There are certain instances where supplementing is the best option, but not always.
