How much should a 6 month old be eating?

I thought 3-4 oz every 3-4 hours, but this book says (Moms on Call) 6-8 oz?! I’m not producing that much and it seems like a lot!

That is definitely formula guidelines. A breastfed baby should never need that much (and if they do it’s because their stomach has been stretched.) Breastmilk is a live substance and constantly changes so the amount stays the same whereas formula is essentially ”dead” so the amount has to be increased to provide more nutrients. Even at 12 months, my daughter never took more than 4oz at a time.

My son (breastfed) easily eats 8oz every 2-3 hours, while also eating a couple ounces of solids 3x a day.

My son will be 6months in a few days, hes been drinking 6oz of formula ever 2-3hours. Lately he cries like he wants more after each bottle,  but then goes to sleep.  I exclusively breastfed my first baby till she was 1, so I'm not sure how much they should be drinking. I feel 6oz should be good enough, but I dont know.  If any other moms reading this and can relate,  some feedback would be nice.
