I met my step son when he was 13. He was sweet, the first one to want to talk to me of all my husbands kids. We have always been close, or so I thought. He would always want to ride with me if my husband and I were driving separate as all the kids wouldn’t fit in one car. We would talk the whole way but then he turned 16.

He’s so quiet now. Always moody, he’s always cursing at his game. Not in front of us, but I can hear him through the door. He doesn’t talk to us anymore and all he does is be on his phone, game and headphones on 24/7. Doesn’t want anything to do with us. His mother has told us that he leaves the house when he wants to go hang out with friends. His sister found 2 lighters in his pack back. We don’t know what they were for but obviously the first thing that comes to mind is, is he doing drugs? He talks back to his mother and his mothers parents (his grandparents) he doesn’t talk back to my husband EVER and he’s never talked back to me. But the other day he said “fuck” out of frustration And I asked “did you say what I heard you say?” With an attitude he replied with a simple “yeah” I asked why and he said “cause”

He did not care. I told his dad too late so he couldn’t tell him anything but he said next time he does something I need to tell him immediately to put him in his place. I’m just shocked as I’ve never had to deal with him like this. His sister is 18 and she’s a bday and rude. But I never thought he would be this way.
