6 months is the general time to consider solids, however, it depends on the child. At 4 months, my son could support his head fully and sit comfortably in his chair without any additional support. If your child needs to lay down in a recliner chair to eat, they are NOT ready. When I put a spoon to his mouth he didn’t push it out with his tongue, he opened wide. Those are the basic developments your child needs to have in order to start solids. Use your best judgement and talk to your pediatrician about your child’s readiness. ♥️

4 months when he started showing signs he was ready, also got the go ahead from his doctor. He’s 7 months now and eats everything!!

5 months and she loves food now! We started with oatmeal just to see if she’d actually swallow anything thicker than formula and she loved it! Now she eats everything we eat and some purées when I’m feeling lazy.

We did 5 and a half months. My daughter was sitting up on her own by then.
