Birth Story Baby 2! Positive Induction!
My first Birth was pretty rough only one year ago! I was very hopeful this time would be different and it was!!
I was already 3 CM the week of my due date and decided to go ahead and induce at 40 and 1 due to the fact that my first one was so darn difficult to get out! Went in on the morning of 5/11 to be induced and it took a while to get checked in and ready. Luckily I was already having regular contractions but they were not painful. They started pitocin around 2pm to ramp things up. Contractions started to get very painful around 4pm. I was about 6cm dilated around 4:30 right before they gave me the epidural. Epidural took a little bit to kick in this time. By 5:30 I was numb and enjoying life.
I told my husband to go out and get food because it would likely be hours and hours before I was ready to push! He ran out for some dinner. At this point it’s about 6:30 and I was thinking ... ok I should get a nap in before this little one comes! The nurse came in to help me move positions before I tried to get rest and she decided to just check me to see where I was. I was 10 CM!!
Right as she was telling me I was complete my husband walked in and was shocked! I told him to scarf down that food while we wait for the doc to get there! Doc arrived around 7pm and I pushed through 3 contractions. He arrived at 7:21pm!
My husband actually delivered the baby himself and I cut the cord! That was the plan with our first and it didn’t work out because it wasn’t a smooth delivery. I was beyond happy with this delivery. The lights were low and he room was calm! It was such a beautiful birth and completely changed my mind about induction and all the fears I had. (Keep in mind it was my second baby and my cervix was favorable!)
I did have a hemorrhage a day later which was terrifying and less than ideal, but we all survived!
My little chunky Baby Jack. Born 8.3 pounds 20.75 inches long!
