Tummy naps.

I know it's a big no-no to let our little ones sleep on their stomachs. When my 3mo goes to sleep at night, he's on his back.During the day he doesn't nap very well. It seems like the only way he will sleep in the daytime is if I'm wearing him (but it's been too hot for that lately) or if he's laying on top of me. Which nobody seems to panic about. He's fallen asleep during tummy time before, I would try to turn him over on his back, but he would always wake up. I'm just curious as to what the big difference is in tummy sleeping on top of me or on top of a smooth surface while being monitored (which has happened a few times). And when he starts rolling over in his sleep, what are we supposed to do about tummy sleeping then?
