What are some of the essentials for a baby registry?

I need some advice on what to put on my baby registry. I’m trying to keep everything as inexpensive as I can, I hate asking people for big ticket items. But I know it’s unavoidable with some items like a crib etc. I don’t really know where to start though. Do I need a bedding set? How many diapers should I ask for? Humidifier? Travel system or no? I’m so lost

Skip the crib blanket set. Nothing is allowed in the crib except a fitted sheet anyhow (no bumpers or anything, unless they are the all mesh only ones) 
You’re going to want all the baby toiletries (shampoo/body wash/lotion/diaper cream/Vaseline if you are having a boy and circumcising) 
I LOVED my infant bath tub. Hated trying to bathe him in the sink. So I recommend that, and infant towels. 
Muslin swaddle blankets for sure. They stretch more than receiving blankets so they are easier to swaddle with. 
If you’re nursing, I’ll have a whole other list for you but won’t comment it now in case you aren’t interested lol. 
I think a swing is a must have. My son napped in one every single day from birth to 14 months old. 
I also love the Snuggle nest. It’s a cosleeper. You place it in your bed with you and it has mesh walls so baby can sleep next to you but safely (it is rated sleep safe and has a firm surface) 
I wouldn’t register for many clothes because people will get you a ton of clothes regardless lol. 
Infant car seat. 
I’d register for like 2 mega boxes of newborn diapers, 2 boxes of size 1 and 2 boxes of size 2. And then the mega box of wipes that come with 11 packs. I’d just register for one of those. 
I NEEDED my car seat mirror. It was a must have for me and cheap lol.

I wouldn’t do a bedding set. Nothing but a fitted sheet in the crib for the first year. Humidifier & travel systems are good ones. Most registries have a check list you can use.

I didn’t even put a crib on my registry. I found a used one in great condition off the letgo app. Also in laws and parents are the people who bought me the big ticket items so I also didnt put that on my registry - though you still can so they know exactly what you want. But mine asked me directly what I wanted them to buy me. MIL bought dresser changing table and my mom bought travel system. I would use the target checklist it was very helpful as what you might need on the registry. But unfortunately people will always just end up buying you what ever they want and think is cute.

Honestly I’ve never had a crib for my kids I’ve always used a pack n play. They both loved it and baby #3s pack n play just came in the other day I got it for $89.00 online @ Target it’s a changer and napper all in one. You’ll definitely need all the bathing essentials(wash cloths,towels,bath, soap etc.), diaper bag, I’ve always done the travel system, a swing doesn’t have to be fancy they grow out of it so fast but having something you don’t have to bounce or push manually helps so much. High chair, receiving blankets/swaddlers (what ever you prefer). Baby detergent. These are just the basics I can think of off the top of my head.
