38 weeks, baby engaged but not dropped?

Last week midwife said baby was engaged but my belly is still rock hard and I don't think I've dropped at all. Is this normal. I thought you dropped when baby was engaged. Sorry if stupid question. Ftm here

I heard you don't "drop" with your first until right before delivery?! (I could be wrong)

Dropping and engaging is two different things. I dropped 2 weeks ago baby is engaging now with contractions she has gone about as low as she can. Was hoping to schedule my c section today but my cervix hasn't changed which means nothing is happening like I thought so safer to keep baby in at least till next week.

With my second child, my son was engaged at 38 weeks and I had my membranes stripped.  Then he moved up a bit for weeks 39 and 40.  He was born week 41 and I think he dropped the day before he was born.

What number baby? Has a lot to do with it. Also it's based on feel not visual appearance as all women have a unique size and shape
