Helpful Advice - Speak Up
Okay, so I'm dealing with some PPD and the psychiatrist gave me some wonderful advice that was so simple and obvious, idk why I couldn't see it mysrlf.
She told me to tell my hubby the truth about how I was feeling, to speak up basically. Since baby's arrival, I was taking care of the baby, the house, errands - everything. Some part of me felt like i had to keep it altogether. (Doc helped me realize i dont have to do that).
the load I was tackling plus being a FTM was all compounding and causing me serious distress and anxiety, but I wouldn't tell my hubby. I said I was fine, wasn't complaining about lack of sleep, and basically just kept going - even though I felt like I was losing it. I finally sat down and had a heart to heart with my hubby and it was such a relief! He's been great at helping more, and taking notice of my emotions (whether or not I've voiced them).
We decided to order groceries online to cut down on errands I was doing, and we are trying out shifts at night so I can get a few hours of uninterrupted sleep. Yesterday afternoon , the hubby took on the baby while I got a nap in!!
Such simple advice - to speak up! And don't try to do it all. I've felt much better this last week then the entire PP period so far.
Good luck ladies =)
