Anyone in a relationship with a police officer?

Hello, I have been in a relationship with a cop for the past 7 months. It has been hard to be with him because he works crazy hrs but i like him very much. I am just wondering how do you cope with the crazy hrs and less time you get to spend time with them.

Yes, my husband is an officer and works long hours especially when he gets a lot of calls and reports. It really sucks but I try not to complain (not saying you do) because it just adds stress to an already stressful job. I don’t think there is much you can do other than just accept it 😕 Maybe you could take up a hobby to pass the time when he’s working or take a college course so you could focus on that instead of focusing on missing him.

I’m married to a cop and both our fathers are cops as well so I grew up in the lifestyle. It’s hard, but there’s honestly nothing you can do except for adapt. He works 12 hr shifts and lots of overtime, as well as the army reserves, so it’s been really difficult lately. I’m a stay at home mom and I can’t imagine working and trying to mesh both our schedules if I wasn’t...I’m always available when he is because I’m a stay at home mom. It’s a tough career and it’s tough on a relationship.

Husband is security forces so basically a military cop and yeppp the hours suck but we worked almost the same shitty hours in the job we were working before where we met so we’re used to it lol
