Having trouble staying awake
I have a newborn who is a few weeks old now and she likes to feed regularly (about every 45 mins - 1hr) so I am up a lot of the night feeding her and trying to get her off to sleep. As well as feeding a lot at night, she doesn’t seem to sleep that much and this combined means that I’m getting veryyy little sleep (last night I only got about 15 minutes). My worry is that I’m having a hard time staying awake while trying to get her to settle and sleep. If I don’t respond to her then naturally she will cry until I do and I don’t like to leave her to cry. As she likes to be held a lot I’m worried about falling asleep with her and her being injured and being awake all night is really wearing me down as I’m constantly falling asleep all day and night and I don’t know how much longer I can carry on like this.
How do other people manage this? My husband does his bit but obviously he can’t do the nursing. We don’t do want to do co-sleeping for safety reasons unfortunately or CIO and my baby is EBF (and do not pump) and newborn so it means I’m always the one who has to do the feeds at the moment.
Thank you.
