I should've trusted my intuition....
This miscarriage has tested me in every area. I went in today for follow up after D&C and laparoscopy, and was told they unnecessarily did the laparoscopy trying to be cautious. And they also said that they cannot say for sure my pregnancy wasn't viable when I did the D&C.
All of this started because I started bleeding after a transvaginal ultrasound last Tuesday. I should've been 6 weeks but baby measured at 5 weeks 1dy. Doctor said he saw fetal pole. When I followed up with doctor for the bleeding on Wednesday, my numbers were low for the 6 weeks I should've been.
Thursday, I ended up going to ER for pain, but still was only bleeding red blood when I peed. They did an ultrasound in ER and the tech said she didn't see baby in uterus. They thought it might have been ectopic. I showed them the ultrasound from Tuesday and they were satisfied that it wasn't ectopic and sent me home saying I'd probably miscarry.
By Friday pain was still there but hardly any blood. I returned to ER. My numbers had slightly increased. But because my numbers were still lower than they should've been they were concerned that it was ectopic. They said although they didn't see anything in uterus on Wednesday's ultrasound the fact that my numbers increased meant something was there.
The on-call OB doctor recommended a D&,C saying she didn't see anything in the uterus and said we could wait but that if it was in my tubes I could ruin them and possibly have problems conceiving later. Considering we wanted to try again and she was saying if I waited I could damage my tubes, I went with the advice to proceed with D&C, but something kept telling me to wait....
They said if they went in to do D&C and didn't find any fetal tissue, they'd do laparoscopy procedure to ensure it wasn't in my tubes. I woke up from surgery to be told they did both procedures and didn't find anything.
I've not been bleeding, but have had constant pain from the laparoscopy. I had a follow up appointment today. The doctor that performed the D&C said that even though they couldn't see any fetal tissue in uterus during D&C they scraped my uterus clean and sent tissue for further testing. Today I was told that the tissue collected from my uterus during the D&C had been frozen and sent for further testing which came back as my fetuses tissue.... so my baby was in my uterus the entire time.
My numbers were going up Friday before I decided to do the D&C.. so the doctor said he can't say for certain that I didn't interrupt a normal pregnancy. 😭😔😔😔 I went through the laparoscopy for nothing, and possibly terminated my baby's viable life. I'm so hurt and disappointed... please please trust your own intuition and bodies. 🙏🏽❤
