IUI...what should I expect?

We saw a fertility specialist and he said that my husband had a low sperm count and that he expects us to be good candidates for IUI. What should I expect? Timelines, meds, the whole process? Just new to this and very hopeful but nervous.

Hi Ashley, I'm due to start IUI in June. Got my bloods drawn today to check my AMH. Hubby had a semen analysis done 6 weeks ago on the NHS so we just took that report along. I've also had day 21 bloods drawn in the last 8 weeks, which confirmed I was ovulating and they asked for up to date STD tests, which we did also. Next step for us is consultation on the 19th and on that day I'll get an internal scan and hubby will need to give blood to test for hiv etc. Then, depending on consultants opinion, we may be given fertility medication to take throughout July for insemination in August xx

Just completed our first IUI! Timing was fast. I had an infertility appointment with my OB on 5/9 and we had our first IUI yesterday (5/27). 
We began tests CD2-3 (aka second or third day of period). Blood draws, ultrasounds, and doc had me do an HSG. This took two weeks. I then called doc the day I had a positive OPK, went in next day for insemination! Husband had a 10:00 appt to give his sample and I went in at noon. Procedure took less than 10 minutes!
