Paying for formula?

Question

Has anyone had their babies dr write a prescription for formula such as Similac Alimentum? If so where did you get it filled at? Normal pharmacy’s such as Walgreens said they don’t fill them and they didn’t even know where to send me or how to help
Ive read some people have had luck getting their insurance to pay a portion of it

I had my dr write a script for similac alimentum. Some insurances do cover it but ours didn’t (we have express scripts) but we are able to use our FSA to pay for it now that we have a prescription for it

I'm not sure about your state but Arizona has WIC (women infants and children)to help cover formula and other food but you have qualify

I'm a pharmacist and I've never heard of that being done at the pharmacy. The very rare times it is covered, you have to go to the insurance company and have them reimburse you.

My baby had to have special formula due GERD with some other issues. Hospital and pediatrician sent a form to our wic office, where we went and ended up getting approved to receive formula

We get formula through Express scripts. Idk if it's a regular thing, but my husband works for the railroad and we are able go get it in a 3 month supply at a super discount.
