Paternity test or?

So this is a tough topic to talk about.. so please be gentle. I'm almost 27 weeks pregnant and am going to the hospital to pre register.. and on the form they ask if a paternity test will be performed. Idk what to mark 🤷
Before I was even pregnant me and my husband had sperated and I had got involved with someone well I fell pregnant and I don't know if it's his or my husband's. I say husband because we have gone threw hard consueling together and have been working things out. Anyways. I asked my husband if he wanted one and he said no because he will love her regardless ... So should I just deny the test cause my husband doesn't want it ? The guy who I had got involved with is a felon and is 1 away from a strike 3 and being put away for good if he violates parole. I do not have any contact with him and have blocked all ways for him to contact me. Any advice please?

Test for your sake, you'd probably feel better knowing. Your child deserves to know as well. If your husband doesnt want to know then dont tell him. But at least do it for yall(you and baby) if thats what you want.

I feel like if I was in that situation I wouldn’t test. If at any point in the future you feel that you need to know for medical reasons you can always test down the road. I’d just make sure to keep the other guys information (name, DOB, etc) so if it is, it’ll be easier to locate down the road. It would eat me to know the truth and my husband not know. If he’s going to raise the baby either way, that would be enough for me to not test. Good luck in what you choose!

As a nurse, it’s important to know the biological father’s information. So many things run in families and are genetic and if you give out your husbands medical history to your baby’s doctor and he’s not the biological father there could be serious repercussions for your baby. If you don’t want the test (which is fine and your prerogative), then please don’t give any of your husbands medical history to any physicians.

I would find out if knowing changes what has to go on the birth certificate. Courts are weird about paternal rights even if the father is a felon (it is not uncommon that rapists are given joint custody or visitation of children born from their crimes for instance). Since birth certificates are public records I would not want there to be any way for this guy to find out and assert rights. 
I’d probably test later when the kid was a few years old just to know.

This is only my opinion, doesn’t mean you should agree, or act based on my response. In the end the decision falls on you alone. I feel you owe it to your child to know who the biological father is. If the results do say it’s the other guy, this doesn’t take away from your husband being a father to your child. However, if in fact your husband is the father, you will no longer have this in the back of your mind wondering if he is or is not the father. Do it for your piece of mind, and for your child. This is a super personal decision and I think whatever you decide, the most important thing is that your kiddo is lucky enough to have two loving parents. If I were in your situation I’d probably turn down the test, since it sounds like your husband would rather not know and for myself, that would make me not want to know either. I just wouldnt want to have to decide whether to tell hubby any news I got back or anything. But whatever you decide, it will be ok!

Your husband has accepted the baby regardless, I’m sure he loves him/her already. Such a blessing. I wouldn’t even put myself of my family through the what if’s. No need to test. Best of luck❤️❤️❤️

If your husband is ok not testing... don't do it. I had a similar situation years ago and it broke us apart because he was not the father even though he said it didn't matter. His family found out what happened and pressured him in to making me do a paternity test and my life was flipped upside down. I lost everything and regret opening the door to that conversation at all. Life goes on and everything is wonderful now, I'm remarried and am pregnant with no 4 but that was a really hard time in my life.
