My grandma tried telling my 9 year old niece that the other day and I legit took my niece into the other room and told her, “People have said that for a long time and they are wrong. If he is being mean to you, it’s because he’s a jerk. Don’t put up with people who are cruel to you. You deserve so much better than that.”

Yes I remember being bullied by a boy in grade 3 and complaining to my teacher only for her to tell me, with a smile “Donavan likes you”. All that does is teach girls to associate abuse with love. It’s bullshit

If a boy even tried to mess with little me he’d have to be prepared for what’s coming. Examples:
In 6th grade a boy kept harassing me for my phone number as a bet made by a bunch of his friends. I said no once but he wouldn’t listen, so I rolled up my report card and smacked him with the weight and power of my C’s.
7th grade me chased an asshole over a fence because I was sick of his bs for always trying to pick a fight with me.
Kindergarten me punched a boy for trying to kiss me. He still remembers too.
6th grade again, a guy kept trying to wrap his arm around me and hug me so I kicked him in the shin. Then laughed at him as he hopped around.
I’ve learned not to be so violent and aggressive, but at least I valued my own personal space. Seriously though, I feel really bad for the people who had to deal with little me.

I was hated from kindergarten until grade 9 in every school I went to because I was anti-social and just introverted in general. (For my own sad reasons) but anyway it made it so much worse growing up. I was told this so many times. I could've just screamed "Everyone MUST LOVE me then!"

Yep. So many many times. The guys that ended up with dates weren’t assholes to me but were kinda nervous and messed up their words a bit. 
The assholes got ignored. 
The WORST thing was a guy who was nice until they were turned down and then they turned into a complete asshole.
