Has anyone used SmileDirect or another invisible braces company?

I’m too old to be covered by ortho insurance and I don’t want to wear braces, but my ortho won’t let me get Invisalign (??).
I’ve heard a lot of really good AND really bad things about these companies, and I’m wondering if they’re worth a shot!

Why wouldn’t your current dentist let you do Invisalign? Are you not a good candidate for it? I did smile direct and I didn’t have any issues until I got to my last tray. After t was finished they were not straight as they showed they should be on my smile profile. I contacted them and they had to do another scan, but got more aligners out to me. For the price, I say it’s worth it, but I would speak to your current dentist about it before moving forward.

My mom is using smile direct! She’ll be done with it in August but so far I’ve seen a definite improvement on her teeth :)

Why won't your ortho let you do Invisalign?
Some people are not a good candidate for Invisalign because their teeth or bite need more work than what Invisalign can realistically do.  IF that is the reason your orthodontist wont let you do Invisalign, I would definitely not do an online one such as smile direct since they can't fix your teeth as well as Invisalign.  (Invisalign applies attachments to your teeth to help them move better/ helps with more difficult cases... Online companies have no way of doing that)

I’ve never heard of being too old for insurance to cover braces. I got mine when I was 26 🤷‍♀️
