Twins in early pregnancy?

If you are pregnant with twins can you tell in early pregnancy? At like 5 weeks or so?

This was my first ultrasound at 5 weeks. Obviously twins. I'm not sure you would be able to tell that early with identicals that share a sac because it would just be one sac & the fetal poles aren't visible yet

You can't tell if twins are identical or feternal that early.  If the egg split early enough they can have separate sacks and still be identical. But you can see twins that early!  My ob wouldn't confirm twin till 8 weeks because he wanted to hear the hear eat to make sure they are viable, but I was 6 weeks when they saw 2 sacks.  It felt like forever to wait two weeks...but there were 2 heartbeats.  Congrats mama!

I had an ultrasound at 5 weeks because of spotting and they couldn't tell it was twins then.. Found out at 8 weeks and I had no indication. This is my first pregnancy so I have nothing to compare it to as far as different symptoms .

My ultrasound was at 5 weeks and saw both sacs. They even told me they are fraternal twins, they have their own sac. Had anther ultrasound the next week (6+3 weeks) to see heartbeats 😊
