usual symptoms for an iud ?

last thursday i had gotten an iud and the past week has been pretty miserable. last night i had the worst cramps and i have nonstop bleeding, large blood clots come out of my and my cramping is absolutely terrible. i only get like 60 seconds of non-cramping and then one comes in and it’s a nightmare. if you have gotten an iud is this normal cause i’m kinda freaking out that my iud has moved or something. 🥴🥴

Hi there. I just had Kyleena put in too. the first week was what you describe, and it was absolutely awful. Obviously, having never done this before, I didn’t know what the normal amount of pain and symptoms are, so I called my doctor. Apparently, it’s pretty freakin normal, which is heartbreaking cause this is abysmal. But chin up, you aren’t alone. Unfortunately, I’m two weeks in and I’m still half bed ridden. I don’t know how I’m going to feel each day. But it definitely is getting better little by little. If the pain is really too much, set up an appointment with your doctor and ask for pain medication. I think they have to give you something. Hang in there!

The cramps were unbearable. I didn’t really get cramps like that before Kyleena, so I’m not used to the pain but these cramps were the absolute worse I’ve ever had. They were really bad the first week and especially about 2-3hrs after insertion. I never pieced it together but I believe my nausea came from the cramps. I’m still cramping 3-4weeks later but there nowhere near as bad totally tolerable. To my surprise my period came right on time I just hope it will be light and short. I like getting my period so I know for sure everything is working but I hope it stops soon.

After the first month of having mine the excruciating pain started to decrease in frequency and now I tend to only get bad cramps around the time of my period. I’m about 3 1/2 months out now from getting mine. I occasionally get a cramp outside of period time and sometimes after orgasm but otherwise it has thankfully started to get better so hang in there! My recommendation is to take ibuprofen and Tylenol back and forth if the pain is really bad!
