When to call the pediatrician

I’m giving birth at a hospital an hour away but we will be taking baby to the clinic in town. My dr already said the baby will just see the on call pediatrician when she’s in the hospital. I’m wondering when do I contact the clinic here? Do I do it now or wait until she is born?

My hospital set up an appointment for us after our son was born. We told them who we wanted and they set it up for 2 days post hospital discharge.

You will want to pre register now and set up an interview so you can get to know them. Mine told me the doctor at the hospital will tell me if the 1st appointment should be at 2 weeks or 4 weeks and to call to schedule once I find out.

I’d give them a call to see what they recommend doing. My doctors office said to call them when the baby is born.

Call them now to make sure they’re accepting new patients. Then put them as your pediatrician when you pre-register at the hospital.
