Our daughter has a sleep crutch... Sleepless mom and dad 😟

Michael

Hello all,

I have a question about sleep and our sleep crutch that has been in place for 11 months.

Our daughter was a good sleeper at the beginning, but needed the "5 S's" to be that good sleeper; side ways, shush, swing, swaddle, and suck. Once we achieved all that we held her for a few more minutes to ensure she's asleep and blamo 10 hours of sleep.

That all changed at around 9 months however. Now we created a monster that needs white noise (so we bought a machine from hatch baby), a large bed time bottle, and to be rocked to sleep. Even with all those things she still wakes up 2-5 times a night and needs our rocking.

In addition to that naps are rocked as well but now she is active at 11 months and doesn't wanna nap so rocking is even challenging now at times.

Unfortunately for me (fortunate for my wife), I work from home (Information Technology job) so I take most of waking duties.

Long story short, I would like to help her transition into a better sleeper, and more of an independent sleeper. Any tips would be greatly appreciated. One of our concerns is she's going to start daycare in August 2019 and there's no rocking to sleep there.

Part of us thinks she'll just get it at some point but the other part of us thinks we need to start training now.

Anyway thanks for the help.

Respectfully,

The Dad
