What do visitors do in the hospital?

I have a scheduled C section and parents and in laws are coming from out of town. My question is what do visitors do in the hospital? I’ll be a FTM and I really don’t want a group of people hovering while I’m recovering. Will they all just sit there like creepers and look at me all day? Haha seriously how do you deal with out of town family?

We are making a rule that for the first 6-12 hrs it’s just going to be me, my husband and baby. Taking time to recover and bond with our little guy. 
I’d highly recommend telling your families to wait until they are invited. And then just do 2 people at a time (for no more then 30 minutes). 
The last thing you are going to want is for people to be sitting around watching you try to breastfeed (if that’s what you are going to do). Or the hospital staff is going to want to get you up and moving around (and using the bathroom).... you won’t want an audience for that!
Lol whatever you decide to do.... make sure you and your partner have an agreed upon plan now and then communicate that to your families so that there are no surprises!

If you don’t want them to hang around and be there tell them I have a scheduled c section for July 2nd and I am having limited visitation because I want it to just be me husband and baby there most the time! Plus I don’t want a lot of people there while I am learning to breast feed. I was unable to with my oldest daughter due to her being away from me for so long and my milk production not coming in well.

make them bring food ha. but they normally just come to cuddle baby. 
depending who they are (if they close to you) they could give you company entertainment n help you.
i would only want those people to visit. 😀

Some treat it like a family reunion. Which is why we are limiting to grandparents only. The last thing I want to do is entertain my sister in laws new flavor of the month after just having a baby.

Yeah visitors will come in and I guess watch you? Look at the baby? 
Luckily when I had visitors my first time nobody stayed longer than 30 minutes, except my parents who left and came back to get me food! 
I think people understand that you just had a baby and you don't need to entertain them. They can just find other things to do after the visiting.

Basically what Stacha said. Truthfully I don’t mind visitors it kinda gets boring just sitting around by yourself and your husband lol. They’ll have you out of bed the day after your C-section so if you’re worried about being stuck in bed with visitors just have them come a day later.

If they come before surgery they’ll be in the waiting room till your nurses and you give the ok to come to your room after surgery. If they come after surgery they will most likely ogle over baby and ask how you are and then you let the nurse know you’d like visitors to go home or hang out in the waiting room till your rested and ready for more visiting :) your nurses will come in anyways and clear the room when they need to check your bleeding and such and you just tell them then :) They have no fear or problem being the bad guys! My nurses always just said “Mama is having some slight issues at the moment so we need to let her rest before we allow anymore visitors” They can always go have lunch and then come back to visit!
