Home Doppler heating up baby?

I got a home Doppler at 10 weeks and found baby pretty much instantly and have found baby instantly every time I’ve used it so I only use it for a second. Once a week I’d say since getting it. I record the sound on my phone so that way when I want to hear baby I can play it. Today I had that weird mucus plug looking thing fall out of me so I decided to ease my mind with the Doppler, it definitely took me a while to find baby bc I guess baby has moved up a bit from where it’s always been! So I tried about 3 times to find baby. Someone just messaged me on social media saying that it can heat up my baby and bad things can happen? So now I’m of course freaking out about this since I did have to really search with the Doppler today on my belly. 😭 is this true?

It’s completely fine. The only risk is that you might not find baby yourself and freak out, which is why theyre often not recommended for home use. Sound waves aren’t going to hurt your baby any more than carrying your phone in your pocket or playing music into your belly.

I heard using it to much is bad yes. It sends out waves very strong and can do harm. I try so hard not to use it often. My goal is about once a week. But once I get further and can feel baby moving I won't be using it much after that.

Unfortunately yes, home dopplers send out the same waves that ultrasounds do. We are told that ultrasounds and dopplers are safe however that's simply not entirely true. Even the FDA states ultrasound of dopplers should only be used if there's an issue in the pregnancy such as pain or bleeding, never for recreational use and only in moderation. Below is copied from the FDA website. 
"Ultrasound waves can heat the tissues slightly. In some cases, it can also produce small pockets of gas in body fluids or tissues (cavitation). The long-term consequences of these effects are still unknown," the FDA says."

We know that there are hypothetical risks with the heat produced by Dopplers and ultrasounds. However, there have been many studies done over many years and none of them show any evidence of any actual risk or adverse outcomes. So it’s incredibly unlikely that you’ve caused any harm!
